KDE Frameworks 6.22: Addressing Clipboard Issues on Wayland for a Smoother Experience

The KDE Project has announced the release of KDE Frameworks 6.22, a vital update to its series of over 80 libraries designed to enhance the Qt environment, in conjunction with the KDE Plasma desktop and KDE Gear applications.

This latest version addresses several clipboard-related bugs specifically affecting Wayland users. Notably, it fixes an issue where data copied using the Klipper clipboard tool would be lost upon closing the pop-up unselected, as well as a problem where the Spectacle screenshot utility failed to save screenshots to the clipboard. Additionally, it resolves another bug that caused Spectacle to produce empty files when taking rectangular screenshots.

KDE Frameworks 6.22 also brings improvements to the Quick Launch widget, eliminating a glitch that caused icons to be dragged inadvertently after a right-click. In addition, it introduces a new Breeze icon set titled ‘view-visible-off.’

An upgrade has been integrated into the KArchive file manager to rectify a series of infinite loop problems related to 7z support. Updates in KCMUtils now accommodate button changes during runtime, whereas KColorScheme has shifted to utilize the Qt API for better functionality. KConfig has also added support for new data types.

Furthermore, this release improves the KHolidays component by updating Japanese holidays for 2024-2026 and compiling a complete list of Nepalese holidays for 2026-2030. Significant fixes have been made to KImageformats for YCgCo-Re decoding, and enhancements to KWidgetsAddons have introduced a helper function to check for the active High Contrast color scheme.

Additional improvements in syntax highlighting include support for the Toit software platform, Mermaid syntax, the ability to stack contexts, new QML keywords, and compatibility with systemd 259.

Users interested in additional details can refer to the release announcement. It’s advisable to check the stable software repositories of preferred GNU/Linux distributions to access KDE Frameworks 6.22 and make timely updates, especially for those utilizing the KDE Plasma environment or KDE applications.
