NexPhone Multi-OS Smartphone Delayed Until 2027

The NexPhone, a smartphone designed to run Android, Linux and Windows, has been delayed until March 2027. Nex Computer CEO Emre Kosmaz says the holdup is due to problems with the antenna placement and phone casing.

The device was originally expected to ship in the third quarter of 2026. Its long road to release began with a concept first proposed in 2012, when Ubuntu was planned as its Linux option. The current model is designed to run Android 16, Debian as an Android app, and Windows 11 on ARM. It may ship with Android 17 instead, while its developers continue improving Android’s desktop mode to support the phone’s convergence features.

The mid-range handset is expected to include a 6.5-inch, 120Hz display, an eight-core Kryo 670 CPU, an Adreno 643 GPU, 12GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, and a 64MP Sony IMX787 main camera. Its USB-C port can connect the phone to a monitor and peripherals for desktop use, and a multifunction USB-C hub is included.

The initial preorder price of $549 has risen to $599 for new customers, reflecting higher memory costs. Existing preorder customers are not affected, and the eventual retail price is expected to be higher.
