Arch Linux has released its first ISO snapshot powered by the newly launched Linux kernel 6.15, marking the arrival of Arch Linux 2025.07.01. This snapshot, available for download, incorporates advancements in GNU/Linux technologies and aims to enhance hardware detection, particularly for newer and some older devices that previous Arch ISOs struggled with.
Included with this release is the Archinstall 3.0.8 menu-based installer. This version introduces a new indicator displaying the version in the main menu title, improved Btrfs subvolume creation, and a service change from grub-btrfs.service to grub-btrfsd.service. Additionally, the installer adds support for syncing after a fresh installation, which is particularly useful for users who may abruptly shut down their systems.
This new ISO also reflects all updated packages from June 2025 in the official repositories. The release is intended solely for new installations; existing Arch users can update their systems using the terminal command sudo pacman -Syu
.
For those interested, the Arch Linux 2025.07.01 ISO is available for download from the official Arch Linux website.
