Linux Mint Is Bringing Back Hibernation Support

Linux Mint plans to bring hibernation back in its next release, giving laptop users a way to preserve their session without continuing to drain the battery.
The feature will appear on a new Sleep Modes page in the System Administration tool, alongside the existing suspend option. Suspend is still supported and is described by the Mint team as fast and reliable, but it uses power while the laptop is asleep.
If a suspended laptop runs out of battery, unsaved work can be lost. Hibernation avoids that by saving the session before the computer powers down.
Working hibernation is not enabled out of the box on many major Linux distributions, including Ubuntu and Debian. Secure Boot is often a factor.
