Framework has introduced its new 13 Pro laptop, marking the first model to receive Ubuntu certification. This certification assures buyers of a reliable support experience directly from the start.
Framework has been a favored choice among Linux users due to its commitment to upgradeable and repairable products, alongside robust contributions to the Linux kernel and open-source initiatives.
The specs of the Framework 13 Pro include options for either Intel Core Ultra Series 3 or AMD Ryzen AI 300 series processors, and it uses innovative LPCAMM2 memory, available with capacities up to 64GB. The laptop relies on integrated graphics, which have improved over time, further enhancing the user experience.
Its display is a 13.5-inch LTPS screen with a resolution of 2880×1920, offering brightness levels up to 700 nits and a refresh rate of 120Hz, along with touch capabilities. The display’s color accuracy is bolstered by covering 100% of the sRGB spectrum and undergoing individual calibration.
Additional features include support for PCIe Gen 5 SSDs (offering speeds up to 14,000 MB/s) and Wi-Fi 7 support through the Intel BE211 radio. The laptop boasts a robust battery life due to a 74Wh capacity, promising up to 20 hours of use with 4K streaming.
A significant upgrade in the 13 Pro is the new haptic touchpad, designed to mimic the feel of a mechanical click throughout its surface, enhancing usability. Existing owners of earlier Framework models can also upgrade their touchpad to the new specification.
Framework aims to deliver a ‘MacBook Pro for Linux users,’ and alongside the Ubuntu-certified version, the laptop will also support Windows 11.
