ONLYOFFICE 10.0 Launches as a Fully Rebuilt App with Expanded AI Tools

ONLYOFFICE Desktop Editors 10.0 has been released, bringing more than a thousand bug fixes, expanded AI features and improvements across its document, spreadsheet, presentation and PDF tools. The developers describe it as a “fully rebuilt app” and warn that some settings and preferences may not carry over when upgrading.

AI features move to a separate add-on

AI is no longer bundled as a plugin in the open-source builds. Instead, users can install the separate AI Tools add-on through the app. It requires access to a cloud AI provider or a local model running through software such as Ollama.

Once configured, AI Tools can work with the contents of documents and offer context-aware assistance. In the PDF Editor, it can summarise a document or answer questions about it. Other editors can use AI for tasks such as improving formatting or creating a table of contents.

The AI Chat interface includes preset prompts, while Quick Actions let users run one-off tasks. Users can also set up AI Assistants to collaborate on a document as they write and edit. The add-on can also access the web and connect to Multi-Context Protocol (MCP) servers.

Other changes in version 10.0

The PDF Editor’s Redact tool can now remove document metadata and annotations. Users can add signatures from the Comment tab, browse annotations in a dedicated panel, and adjust them through a new settings panel.

In the Document Editor, pasted numbered items can continue an existing list or restart numbering. During collaborative editing, users can jump to another person’s cursor and follow their work. Right-to-left documents also handle equations and other inline objects more reliably.

The Spreadsheet Editor highlights the ranges used by a formula, adds a toggle for autocomplete, and can save files in the older XLS format. Calculations involving array formulas that reference entire rows or columns are also faster and use less memory.

Presentation Editor users get additional print modes and more control over whether hidden slides, backgrounds, frames, comments and slide numbers appear in printouts.

Other changes include slimmer window borders and window shadows in Linux builds. Local document templates have been removed, leaving cloud-based template options.

ONLYOFFICE Desktop Editors is free and open source for Windows, macOS and Linux. Download the release from the official website or find platform installers, including a Ubuntu-compatible .deb, on the GitHub releases page. Linux users who want automatic updates can install the official Snap.
