Opera GX for Linux Makes its Debut on Flathub and Snap Store

Opera GX, the gaming-focused web browser, has made its official debut on Linux, now available through the Canonical Snap Store and Flathub. This browser was first released for Linux in March 2026, featuring several unique capabilities that helped it gain popularity on other platforms like Windows and macOS.

Key features of Opera GX include controls for CPU, RAM, and network usage, customizable background sounds, various themes, and visually appealing elements like web shaders. The browser also includes a "Hot Tabs Killer" feature, which automatically closes tabs that consume excessive system resources, akin to similar functionality found in other browsers.

To install Opera GX on Ubuntu, users can either search for it in the App Center or run the following command in the terminal:

sudo snap install opera-gx

In addition to the Snap and Flatpak formats, Opera GX remains available for download in standard Linux package formats such as DEB and RPM from the official website.
